Inspiration: I got most of my inspiration from Mr. Davis's crest and thats about it.
Brain Storming: When I was think about what to have in my crest, I wanted to have something from my dads ethnicity and something from my moms ethnicity. I first thought about food but didn't like the idea of having food in my crest. I then proceeded to do something with both the flags. I wanted to have the bird from the Guatemalan flag and the snake from the Mexico flag. I still wanted to have something represent my mom, brother and me. My moms name is Rosa so I wanted to have three roses representing the three of us.
Sketching: I basically sketched out a few ideas of what I wanted because I already had a pretty good idea of how I wanted my crest to look. My third sketch was very detailed and I didn't think I could actually do it in illustrator so I simplified the objects as much as I could.
Design Process: When starting the design process I started with the rose. I made the rose with just a lot of ovals and circles. when I got the shape I was looking for I just combined them all into on shape then added a stroke. The snake was probably the easiest thing but the bird was a bit challenging. I mostly focused on getting one side of the bird done then just coping it and flipping it. The tail of the bird is a separate shape that I combined at the end.
